"IV Diaries”
When we first
heard that there was going to be an IV trip for us final year students, we
could barely contain the excitement. Finally! A trip, well deserved. Planning
the trip was as thrilling as the actual trip itself!
Our journey
began by night travel to Bengaluru from the Podanur Junction Railway Station.
We reached Bengaluru in the wee hours and immediately proceeded to Coorg.
Students happily danced to electrifying beats at 4:00 in the morning, something
one rarely finds during normal college days.
We reached
Kushalnagar (situated on the foothills of Coorg) by noon, freshened up and
immediately proceeded to see the sights. Our first stop was to The Namdroling
Monastery, or more commonly knows as The Golden Temple, just in time for the
prayers. We witnessed more than a hundred young monks chanting prayers in
unison. The throat-singing took all of us to a different world and was one of a
kind experience. Next we drove up to Coorg and visited the famed Raja’s seat. The
view from this point was just mesmerising. The night ended with a campfire-dj
night that was waiting for us. Dancing around the campfire for about two hours
drained our lives out. We then rested for the night and proceeded to Mysuru the
next day.
In Mysuru, our
first stop was the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. The place was teeming
with people. Spoiler alert! All the other places were the same as well. The
best part for me at the zoo were the insanely adorable otters. We then
proceeded to the Mysuru Palace. The magnificent structure with its rich history
took us back to the times of the Wodeyar Dynasty. We then proceeded to Chamundi
Hills to seek blessings from the mighty Goddess Chamundeshwari. Our final stop
was the Brindavan Gardens. The cool winds and the sky with its setting sun
perfectly complimented with the meticulously curated gardens and the fountains.
We then proceeded to Bengaluru and settled into our rooms and rested up.
Day 3 at
Bengaluru was the final leg of the trip. We began with our Industrial Visit to
the Regional Centre for Organic Farming, where we learned a lot about organic
farming and the quality control testing behind bio-fertilisers and organic
manure. We then proceeded to the famed Visvesaraya Industrial and Technological
Museum which had multiple sections filled with interactive experiments in each
and it was a delight to learn science in such a fun way. After lunch we
proceeded to our final destination, Commercial Street. This was probably the
most awaited one, as each one of us were waiting to splurge on street shopping.
After a shopping spree, we left for the railway station. We bade our goodbyes
to Bengaluru and left for Coimbatore.
The memorable journey was one in which I made a ton of memories and had unforgettable fun. This trip was where I bonded with my seniors, had fun with my friends and found new ones in my teachers. It was an experience that will stay with me throughout my life.
